[opensuse] Need Help Getting Beta 3 - Slow Torrent?
![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/27aacf61a13c66fcc083fcf8a84823bc.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
Listmates, I thought I would load beta3 and help with some bug reports, but I seem to be having difficulty getting it. I am using aria2c for the first time and it seems very slow: [#2 SIZE:352.0KiB/4,382.6MiB(0%) CN:40 SPD:7.14KiB/s UP:3.25KiB/s(93.7KiB) ETA:174h36m50s] At this rate it will take 7 days 6 hours to complete the download. Is there a way I can speed it up? Is it just a problem with needing more people seeding? It sure would be helpful to have an iso. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. It is.. I just got finished with the download using ktorrent, and it took about 3 hours or so. Really fast download.

Looks like the client. I just let it connect from the opensuse site, and ktorrent took it from there. You might want to try another client. I've just started downloading beta3 via bittorrent - I'm getting 100K/s downstream, which is a little slow. I could ftp it with at least 500K/s. But I'm not in a hurry. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It would be helpful if you would tell the list what speed your internet connection is. Are you using dialup at 52Kbps? If you have a connection like Per Jessen, then it is really slow for you! The initial speeds of a download are many times much slower than what they will be if you just let it download. Some people will be happy to send you a burned cd or dvd just for the postage or even postage paid, since you want to help do bug reports. You might ask the list for someone to send you a cd or dvd with snail mail. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I gave up on the idea of downloading a full DVD, unless there was ABSOLUTELY no other choice, and now download the delta.iso to upgrade from x to x+1. Downloading a 700MB delta is a lot quicker than a 4.3GB DVD - even I figured this one out :-) . (And I am on 1.5mbps broadband, and waiting for my ISP to install 24mbps on my phone exchange - promised for next month.) The DVD came in on RoadRunner "Ultra" last night in about 20 mins.....slower than normal, but not bad considering. Fred, you'll have to explain - what is Roadrunner Ultra? VDSL? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ciao.
Your living right Basil. In the U.S. we have 3rd world internet speed and Porsche prices for low bandwidth crud while overbuild fiber capacity sits idle. Go figure?
