You can pretty easily install KDE 4.3 factory packages on 11.1 - alongside KDE3 and GNOME.
And all you should need to do is add this repository: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU...
And then install the KDE4 patterns with YaST.
If you don't already have the KDE3 OBS repo you prolly want to add it, or quite a lot of KDE3 apps will probably be replaced by KDE4 ones. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.1/
I did as above, i.e. added the KDE4 Factory repo + KDE3 OBS repo (since there is also KDE 3.5.10 installed, which I would like to keep alongside KDE 4.3). On trying to do update from YaST > Software Management, I get errors similar to the ones in images ( [1] & [2] ); [2] appears after I click on <Yes> option in [1]. The packages that were selected for Update are in Pict [3]. Is there a problem with signing of some packages in the KDE4 Factory (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU...) repo ? The packages for which there were error messages (all regarding wrong checksum) were: - libqt4 - python-sip - libqca2.2-2.02-64.i586.rpm - libqt4-sql-4.5.2-57.1.i586 - libqt4-sql-mysql-4.5.2-59.1.i586 - libqt4-qt3support - libqt4-sql-sqllite - libqt4-X11 - libqt4\webkit4-4.5.2 - libqt4-qtscript PS: I choose to do the Upgrades first, from the Software Management module of Yast, and selected only the Upgrades from picture [3], not any other programs. Some packages in KDE 4.3 have names without kde4- prefix which makes trouble. I had KDE3 on laptop installed in parallel with KDE 4.2.4 and update to 4.3 was a whole lot of trouble, and when I finally got mix that worked I didn't touch it ever since. So far I recall, I actually removed all that was possible (I was able to identify) that belongs to KDE3 before I got KDE 4.3 installed, but to my surprise I can log in KDE3 desktop, and it seems to be fine.
