[opensuse] Leap 15.2 - different link local addr with network manager and wicked ?
Two new 15.2 installs - with wicked, I get the mac-derived LL address, which means my radvd needs no changing. With NM, I get some other LL address, definitely not mac-derived. I want the mac-derived LL, how do I get that? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (21.1°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You want ipv6.addr-gen-mode=eui64 connection property. Not sure if this can be set as default. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Andrei - looks like it can be set with nmcli, I presume there is some persistent storage somewhere under /var. At least I hope I won't have to do this per user. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.1°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This is "IPv6 address generation mode" field in "IPv6 Settings" tab in nm-connection-editor GUI.

It is connection property so it is stored in connection definition. I understand that today it means /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections for all users. Note that missing property in connection definition defaults to eui64. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Funny, I don't see that option.

Got it - much easier with vi :-) Yes, without 'addr-gen-mode=eui64' it still uses eui64, and otherwise nm uses 'addr-gen-mode=stable-privacy'. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
