Hi, I'm the owner of HP LaserJet 1000, and it's un-usable in SuSE. I already check the SuSE list, and somehow LaserJet 1000 is one of the model that were not supported. (why???) Is there any work around that can be use? Help me!! It is supported by linux with CUPS, LPD and LPRng. You haven't looked far enough. Try: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1000 -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Seems there is support for HP LaserJet IV Si and HP LaserJet V Si but not mine. The printer works as a simple HP LaserJet III however. This is true in 8.2 and 7.3. I tried linuxprinting.com etc even suse.com no go. Has anyone written support for this printer. I'm not familiar with your Laserjet, but if it does Post Script, it should work fine. Just tell Linux to use Post Script. --doug At 19:34 07/24/2003 -0800, W.D. McKinney wrote:

From my notes (knew that section would come in handy one day), the IIIsi interface was just a hp printserver as a card instead of an external box. Talk to hp TECHNICAL support, they usually have someone linux proficent (at least they do in australia) on the team. regards scsijon At 01:34 PM 25/07/2003, W.D. McKinney wrote:

Actually, that's not necessarily true. The original network cards that went into the IIIsi's (I'm talking pre-JetDirect), were protocol and possibly frame specific (not sure about the second part, it's been 10 years since I've touched this beast). Basically, you'd slap one of these beasties in the printer and either 802.2/802.3 ethernet or you'd buy the "other model" for LocalTalk support. Regardless, they didn't have IP Address, the drivers that would sit on your box/server would talk directly to the MAC address. --Jerry -- Open-Source software isn't a matter of life or death... ...It's much more important than that!
Actually mine is even older an Epson Action Laser 1500. Built like a tank compared to these cheap plastic junk now out. But its still in good shape and Black and white is all I can ever see using. CWSIV On 24 Jul 2003 19:34:57 -0800 "W.D. McKinney" <deem@wdm.com> writes:
