Alex, Even if I upgrade from 6.1 to 7 professional? The thing is, I read the annoucements on SuSE's website, and they don't say anything about that... Or about whether they intend to keep this upgrade policy. The message I replied to just gave me a big scare, SuSE is the distro of my choice for about 2 years now. I don't buy every single release, but I keep up on a regular basis. I like the way they are now, but I'm afraid they'll follow RedHat in their money/value politics... Kind Regards Guy ------------------------------------------------------------ Guy: Haven't you followed the recent thread on this? If you had just read today's messages (there were at least 6 or 7 on this very topic) you would have understood that there is an update version that will cost you the same or perhaps less than what you paid for previous versions. I thought it was proper netiquette to actually read a thread and/or related postings in a newsgroup before jumping in and in the process putting ones foot in his mouth. Alex,
Even if I upgrade from 6.1 to 7 professional? The thing is, I read the annoucements on SuSE's website, and they don't say anything about that... Or about whether they intend to keep this upgrade policy.
Well, that is a good point that hasn't been mentioned yet. I actually expect the upgrade to still work smoothly. If not, picking up any missing pieces from the ftp site might get you there. Still, it might be good to hear more officially about the "upgrade version" policy from SuSE. Perhaps it is on their German website (I don't have time to check right now). Anyway, the announcement about the upgrade version should be included on the US web site, to finally put an end to this thread.
The message I replied to just gave me a big scare, SuSE is the distro of my choice for about 2 years now. I don't buy every single release, but I keep up on a regular basis.
Again, if you had followed the thread, you'd know that you can still expect the GPL content of the distribution on their ftp site.
I like the way they are now, but I'm afraid they'll follow RedHat in their money/value politics...
I refer to the many mails Michael Hasenstein from SuSE has posted to this newsgroup in the last couple of days. I think that you will find all your questions answered there. Thanks Michael for your beer brewer's patience. The Update Edition CDs/DVD are the exact same ones as in the Prof. Edition.

Yes, that's why we had a lot of emails yesterday. -- Michael Hasenstein http://www.suse.de/~mha/ SuSE Linux AG, Nuernberg (Germany) SuSE Inc., Oakland, California (US) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Hi to all, one question: What happen to all the information about Oracle that SuSE has on it's site ? I remember that there was installation instructions over most Oracle on Linux Products, and also a lot of Oracle Certificate Oracle Products on Linux and special considerations on some installations.
