[opensuse] Wifi broken after update: 12.1
Hi, I just installed 12.1 on a quadcore eeepc seashell series. While installing the option wpa(1,2)psk tkip was not present, so had to use a rope. When testing the network, both rope and wifi did not work. After login in the networkmanager did succeed in finding network, and accepting my passphrase, so it worked. I wifi-d the update: truckload of packages, after that wifi broken. Does not scan or see or find the network. The rope does work. *I forgot: what package did i have to update again to get it working again?* Oh and the security is tremendously overdone with network setting: twice rootpasword wallet, also twice, but still no connection. Maybe the attention got to the wrong stuff? As my network is already protected, why do i need root password, and kdewallet to get acces to these settings? I think it is very user-unfriendly this way... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I downgraded the plasmoid and all the networkmanagerfriends that were needed to fullfill the solvables: All working fine: and automatic, no hassle with paswords and stuff.. Btw , i deactivated kdewallet. Kind Regards, Rob. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Did you do so by setting an empty wallet password? So your WiFi does not require a authentication? It is open for all? All, that would be me, on this eeepc anyway. I have wpa2psk tkip protocols, which require those protocols installed and able to use by sw from prop diver, or os that can deliver. And yes, for my convenience, i stored my password to use when i am online. During sleep, or screensaver, the connection is terminated anyway. For other networks i will need keys for use with the potocols they use anyhow. I do not see, why i would make it extremely difficult for me to use my own network.. The network itself is secure, and so is the connection. Regards, Rob.
