My current linux box does nothing more that office stuff and internet.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have RoadRunner for my access, and I have a LAN with one Linux box (my production machine), and three Win95 machines using a RedHat box as a gateway. Works great. 1. Good luck!!! 2. You need to get a Linux login client. HoadRunner Hawaii is different from all of the other RoadRunners. If you're in Hawaii, see my How-To (<A HREF="http://gtoft.dynip.com/Oceanic/"><A HREF="http://gtoft.dynip.com/Oceanic/</A">http://gtoft.dynip.com/Oceanic/</A</A>>). Otherwise, check with your local Linux group, or search the net - they are out there. @home doesn't require a login client - it works much better, I think. 3. Use two NICs, and make sure they are identical. I've had more heartache with two different NICs than you can imagine. Some people may get it to work, but I can't. Use two that are the same, and they will work fine. YaST incorporates the second NIC fairly easily, compared to RedHat. It took me four hours to get 2 NICs working under RH the first time, two hourse the second time. Using YaST, it took me 30 minutes. (I'm still learning!) 4. Treat the cable modem as an ethernet connection to the Internet and use DHCP and it works great.
