My experience has been that there is nothing yet available for Linux which can match the ease of use of Front Page or Dreamweaver. I am stuck using windows my my web development. My advice would be to stay away from Front Page and buy Macromedia's Dreamweaver. There are some HTML editors for Linux like Coffee Cup HTML etc... but like I said above, they do not offer the wysiwig environment that Dreamweaver does. -----Original Message----- From: Damon Register [mailto:damon.w.register@lmco.com] Sent: Monday, January 08, 2001 10:06 AM Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] HTML editors My boss just said that he wants to order M$ Front Page so someone in our department can create web pages for our group. Can anyone suggest Linux software for creating/editing web pages? I remember a similar thread last year but don't remember much about it since at that time I wasn't interested in web pages. You can use Bluefish. You can go to freshmeat.net or appwatch.com and find references to this program. It's pretty good. Hey, Guys! Check out Amaya. Nice changes, and they've rounded the bend. Say goodbye to FP! Tom
Quanta or Quanta+ is more than a match for the winxx stuff. Quanta plus will also allow you to upload your html scripts and associated files to your website. Excellent html script editor. It manages multiple progects. I haven't tried it but I see no reason why CVS couldn't be used with it. Hit F6 is see what you've done so far. Hit F6 again and your back at the script. Highlight a tag and hit F1 and a tag dialog box pops up. Nothing could be easier, unless you hire it done. JLK On Monday 08 January 2001 11:24, Seth Payne wrote:

IMHO; I would never trade Quanta and XEmacs (sometimes even Composer, with some cleaning work to do afterwards) for some WISIWYG programs that spit out lots of nightmarish code which can be pure horror to unbug and polish. I also used to like BlueFish, but I work faster with color syntax, which BlueFish doesn't have, and the version included in SuSE 7.0 got some weird bugs in it too. Besides; I'm in love with Quanta! Note: there is a never version of Quanta out there than the one included in SuSE 7.0. Cheers, ei On Monday 08 January 2001 18:24, Seth Payne wrote:
