[opensuse] Not 15.0 medium
I just created a USB install stick for 15.0. I downloaded the ISO and ran shasum. After I booted the USB stick and ran the media check, I got an error message "This is not a openSUSE Leap 15.0 medium". Any idea what this is about? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That's normal, see here: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/517323-Check-Installation-Media-g... The media check does not work if it's a USB. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This is a very old problem, the media check was designed for optical media, not for usb sticks. They simply can not be tested, and if tested will give "bad copy" error and lead the user to try burn again and again and never produce a good copy. The issue is that a CD burned from an image will report the same exact size as the image, whereas a stick will not, they are as big as the full stick, so that the compare fails or can't be done, not same size. Anyway, you do not need to check an USB stick, they don't usually have write errors. Optical media on the other hand are prone to fail. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
