Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] KDE -- WOO HOO!
I just wanted to thank everyone who has either offered opinions or advice on how to get KDE setup. I finally got it to start automatically (I had to edit xinit, startx, /root/.profile, and /etc/profile) and I got the screen/color/refresh problem fixed (I turned off window animation and made the windows opaqu as opposed to transparent). My only question now is when KDE 1.0 comes out, will I have to uninstall my current version, or can I simply update it? (using the -u option for rpm or xrpm) Also, currently I created a link to netscape--can I change the icon to use netscape's icon? If so, how? (I figured out how to change to one of KDE's predefined icons, but nothing further)
Thanks again, Joe
I'm not sure if you only want to start KDE as your default window manager but if this is what you want i got it in a very simple way in the .xinitrc in your home you only have to comment the next line #exec $WINDOWMANAGER and put this one exec /opt/kde/bin/startkde Saludos Victor - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Sorry Fred but i forgot to do a little comment; i'm not sure but i think threre isn't any problem if root has his own .xinitrc in his home, so.... i did it and it works Saludos Victor - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
