[opensuse] VLC interface font size
Hello list users: I have asked this on the videolan forum but thare wa no response, so I put it here. I am using openSUSE 10.3 with kde 3.5.9 "release 51.2". I have installed vlc-0.9.6 opensuse packages from the videolan site successfully (vlc-0.9.6-2.6). VLC starts and works but the interface fonts are too small. How could I make them larger? I tried qtconfig but changing font size in it had no effect. Thanks, IG ______________________________________________________________________ Most kell kötelező biztosítást váltani! VLC uses Qt4, maybe you should check whether you launched qtconfig for version 3 instead. In opensuse 11, /usr/bin/qtconfig is the Qt4 version and /usr/lib/qt3/bin/qtconfig the Qt3 one.
Thanks, IG

Peter, thank you for answering. I am using openSUse 10.3. I have checked my qt installations and qtconfig files: rpm -q -f /usr/bin/qtconfig libqt4-x11-4.3.1-23.4 rpm -q -f /usr/lib/qt3/bin/qtconfig qt3-3.3.8b-8.2 No matter which one I use, it has no any effect on VLC look. Any hints? Thanks, IG ______________________________________________________________________ Most kell kötelező biztosítást váltani! Do you have vlc-qt installed and use the Qt interface?
Thanks, IG

I am using 11.0, but I have a file, vlcrc, in /home/ed/.vlc with many different font settings. Maybe try there. Ed -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thank you Ed: I have no .vlcrc in my home directory. But I have config files in ~/.config: vlc-qt-interface.conf vlcrc vlc-qt-interface.conf: this file is really cryptic to me. vlcrc: there are several editable lines in this file some regarding fonts, like: # integer (Font size, pixels) #rss-size=-1 # integer (Font size, pixels) #marq-size=-1 # string (Font) #xosd-font=-adobe-helvetica-bold-r-normal-*-*-160-*-*-p-*- iso8859-1 # string (Font) #freetype-font=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/FreeSerifBold.ttf # integer (Font size in pixels) #freetype-fontsize=0 # integer (Relative font size) #freetype-rel-fontsize=16 # integer (Font Effect) #freetype-effect=2 I changed the values of freetype-fontsize and freetype-rel- fontsize but had no any effect. I havent forgot to remove the hashmark from the beginning of the line. IG ______________________________________________________________________ Most kell kötelező biztosítást váltani! Peter, these VLC packages are installed on my system, including vlc-qt: rpm -qa|grep -i vlc vlc-0.9.6-2.6 vlc-noX-0.9.6-2.6 vlc-qt-0.9.6-2.6 libvlc2-0.9.6-2.6 libvlccore0-0.9.6-2.6 IG ______________________________________________________________________ Most kell kötelező biztosítást váltani! Well, I'm running out of ideas. Did you use KDE4 in the same account as the one you're running vlc? If so, try changing the font settings in KDE4, or try changing the font in qtconfig. Also, try updating Qt4, I've seen very weird font problems when Qt4 programs link against a wrong version.
