looking for linux wisdom , here
**** " Imagine; all of everything that is or was, can be reduced to an equation less than one inch long !" Dr. M.Kaku *** okay for the tech part I have suse 7.3 w/ everything updated as of yesterday this box is an old Monorail brand cellery/600 (?) 320 megs of ram and plenty room on hte hard drive... but I'm looking for a more Universal solution as the printer mentioned bellow . I also have an hp-photosmart p1100 printer, which, for the most part prints well . But, I'd like to take advantage of it's ability to read and store "smart media" cards "storage" in htis case meaning that it can copy to the computer any file it finds on the card ( mp3 photo whatever..) Problem IS it only wants to store things on a windows computer. So it looks to store it on a hard drive labled C;\ somefolder. Since there are drivers in the works for this printer I'm wondering if there is a place to look for this sort of development rather than wandering thru a site that seems largely devoted to selling me another printer ( hp's own site seems to have little ral information on getting the printer to do anything that didn't show up in hte little dead tree manual that came in the box. If anyone here has one of these printers and has managed to get it to store pictures on the hard drive from the flash cards or even might have a recomendation for a smart media reader ( needs to be the flash card and the little ones smatmedia ( the ones a lot of mp3 players use ) I'd appreciate knowing how you got the printer to show you on the computer whats on the card! Wine doesn't seem to work either ( to fake out the printers windows "hard coded" info in it's tiny memory) Any wisdom floating around ? Anyone actually made this work who wouldn't mind sharing thier hard won information? TIA -- j afterthought : Lottery: A tax on people who are bad at math.
