Feedback - gnome 2.6 for SuSE 9.1 at ftp.gwdg.de mirrors
Hi, I have mirrored Gnome 2.6 for SuSE 9.1 at ftp.gwdg.de, and there seem to be some packages to be still missing, or mirroring was incomplete. Just try to install evolution with "apt-get install evolution". Here is the result: The following packages have unmet dependencies: evolution: Depends: libebook.so.5 Depends: libecal.so.4 Depends: libedataserver.so.3 Depends: libsoup-2.2.so.3 but it is not installable E: Broken packages

Do you have access to the base rpms of suse (local apt repository?). If not the libraries are probably provided via the base rpms of suse-9.1 Hmm, no I just checked with 'pin' for those libs and they are not there... Same over here (while gnome-2.6 is up running). This is a packaging bug! -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
evolution: Depends: libebook.so.5 Depends: libecal.so.4
I think these should be provided by a gal2 package
Depends: libedataserver.so.3
evolution-data-server
Depends: libsoup-2.2.so.3 but it is not installable
libsoup These are all what I think/am pretty sure should provide those libs, of course it may be different in 2.6
Don't know what is going on...
No, nor me, but then I've not looked at them yet ;) Looking at the contents of the repository, I would say be careful - it looks like the Evolution package in there is the unstable 1.5 tree, and is not parallel installable with 1.4 - i.e. it will remove it. -- James Ogley, UNIX Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 www.pinnacle.co.uk Personal: james@rubberturnip.org.uk www.rubberturnip.org.uk Updated GNOME packages for SUSE LINUX: www.usr-local-bin.org

Most of them are provide by evolution-data-server. The culprit one is however libsoup-2.2. The one that is available provides libsoup-2.0 # apt -s install evolution-data-server, results in: The following packages have unmet dependencies: evolution-data-server: Depends: libsoup-2.2.so.3 but it is not installable It would be nice if a updated package of libsoup could be provided by suse. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

I have build the latest version of libsoup (2.1.10) that provides the library that is requested by evolution. With this library evolution can now be installed without problems using apt. I have uploaded the rpm, after the usual dead time, the rpm can be installed from the apt component suser-rbos. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
I installed from ftp.ximian.com/pub/evolution-devel-snapshot/suse-91-i586 and everything "seems: ok for now. alfredo On Sun, 2004-05-30 at 23:05 +0200, Richard Bos wrote:
