The kernel is configured for ACPI (I have been mistaking apic for this 8-)). Should there be a line in the global settings for lilo.conf about ACPI instead? <newbie alert> I don't know, whether apm is configured the one way or the other in the kernel. It seems to me that when you get to the point where you use menuconfig or xconfig, your already in the middle of compiling a new kernel. Maybe not in the middle, but you usually have already renamed your kernel for backup and are working on a copy before you can find out what actually is inside the kernel. Very impractical ;-) Brian
