I have been having a heck of a time upgrading from the gtk+ and glib that comes with suse 5.3 to the newest versions. I need to so that I can compile *most* of the new gtk based apps. I can compile and install but every compilation fails the gtk app test. I guess that means that old libs are laying around and being found instead of the new one. I tried rpm -e to get rid of the packages to no avail. How in the world can I cleanly upgrade? I think it is nice that suse supports rpm but if it doesn't support the same directory structure as RH then you end up getting bit on some rpm installs....(my 2 cents). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Dean Michael Dorman, Information Systems Director Putnam Company, 5 East Ave Wellsboro PA 16901 Phone: 717-723-8006 Fax:717-724-2375 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Remember, no good deed goes unpunished. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Yeah, I'm beginning to sense that Redhat is going to become a real annoyance. Everyone seems to make rpms for Redhat, as if it is some sort of standard. I see fewer tarball distributions, which is what I prefer.
