Hi, everybody After spooling a fax with faxspool, I want to send it. I've this error message with faxrunq : processing F000003/JOB... /usr/sbin/sendfax -v 0141755254 f1.g3 Trying fax device '/dev/ttyS0'... OK. /usr/sbin/sendfax: not a class 2/2.0 fax modem command exited with status 3 My modem is an Olitec self memory 56000. What is a class 2/2.0 fax modem ? I can't find something in doc. Hi Charlie, I'm no expert on this subject but seeing no one has answered your query I suggest you look at the Mgetty FAQ (URL below). In part 1.8 there is a bit of info on CLass 1 fax modems and why they are no supported. http://www.webforum.de/mgetty-faq.html Also if you want more info I suggest posting a query to mgetty@muc.de which is the support for mgetty+vgetty program. Also I suggest you look at efax. On their web site tey say it supports Class1 and class2 fax modem. Have not used this software, but maybe worth a try. http://www.cce.com/efax/ Regards, Graham Smith _______________________________________

Maybe it's not so relevant to your problem, but I used succesfully class 1 faxmodem with Hylafax on AMD K2-500 system. I didn't try on a slower one. So you may try Hylafax, it's included in SuSE. -Kastus

It is doesn't try manual set it up as class 1 and see what happens. C> My modem is an Olitec self memory 56000. What is a class 2/2.0 C> fax modem ? I can't find something in doc. Their are two classes of fax modems- class 1 and class 2. Most fax modem modems should support both classes. If you have a choice use class 2 since it is less taxing on the system.
