[SLE] Network Printer
Tired of messing w/this. Had it set up once, but noooo, I had to check out Mandrake 7.0. BTW, Mandrake 7.0 sucks and wasn't worth ditching SuSe over.......within an hour I was re-installing SuSe 6.3. (forgive me, for I have sinned.......) Anyway, can't seem to get to the printer on my wife's win98 machine. Looking for the magic combination of printer names and spool names to get this setup as a remote printer again. Must have been lucky the first time. The printer is a Canon BJC 4200. Jobs get to lp0 or lp1 or lpd and just sit there. I have set it up w/Yast and apsfilter SETUP, but just can't seem to get it right. Please help this prodigal son ;-) Thanks, Tom FOR SALE-CHEAP ! Hi Tom, Just a thought. Are you using the lprold printer program which comes with SuSE 6.3. The program does not work. Download the newer version from SuSE updates. Regards, Graham Smith ------------------------------- On 05-Mar-2000 TRBishop wrote:

Let's face it... this is one area where SuSE seems to fall on it's face. Yast just doesn't do the rest the of the distro justice when it comes to setting up printers. There's no option for specifiying a printer type when dealing with remote printer, and even though you can specify a printer type with local printers, the selections are horribly dated. I hate to say it, but this is one area where Turbo Linux and RedHat both have SuSE beat. This is one major area that I'd like to see improvement in... especially in working with Linux in an office environment (as I do!) - Herman Graham Smith wrote:
