Anyone can do the "one at a time" thing. I'm looking to work in a large volume. Every time I hit "new" it goes to the next check number. (that way I can hit you up for 10 consecutive checks) ;) What other cars are you selling? Are one of those six Mustangs your? :-o Beats ordering the checks and paying $ for them. So buy them from a ( print) company not your bank. Round here you can get them printed on safety paper, and w/ all manor of backgrounds for less than a penny a piece most week ends. The *Sunday* paper has lots of ads for those things , depending on how much or how little you wish to plunk out at one time... you at least have the "protection" of safety paper. That way if some yo rips off your mailbox and gets your monthly payoffs to whomever you pay bills , he can't change the amount of payment, or indeed the name of the payee... and IIRC the most recent innovations, he can't "launder" ( literally in a dip of chemicals ) and then use your check which has your account number etc printed by your computer ... to loot said account of any cash available. Until that (type) paper is available to computer users, this is one of those "pay the man the $2 " deals.. what you save is much less than you think. Although if you are that cheap, why aren't you using "online" bill pay ??? no check, no charge.. at least not yet at most banks. -- j "When You Earnestly Believe You Can Compensate For A Lack Of Skill By Doubling Your Efforts, There's No End To What You Can't Do."

Some very good questions- We are a printing company. (but still, like you said, people are just about giving them away) I can buy them cheaper than I can print them. Safety paper isn't cheap. Or when in doubt, print what you want. The MICR numbers that can get hairy. You can get the checks that are on safety paper without numbers really cheap "one up" with a stub or how ever you like. Staples has checks...CompUSA, etc. Www.versacheck.com http://www.g7ps.com/scripts/paper.asp I would like to print the numbers when I print the check info on so if I screw up one I can redo that number and not have a VOID in the register. You would think with my wife working for a large bank, we would do our checking on line... Lets just say, I know better and leave it at that... (did you know some CHARGE for on-line banking?) And it has nothing to do with her being paranoid. :| Anyway, what can I say. I'm analog. :) -- Thanks, George "America will never be destroyed from the outside. Honestly, who uses cheques anymore? I've just today binned my last chequebook (from HSBC), and I think my last cheque (different bank) was written pre-1990. OK, I know the UK is still very dependent on cheques, but who else? /Per Jessen, Zürich

Enh, a few of us whose utilities -- say, gas or electric -- will only sign you up for repeat auto payments, not one-time on-line payments. I still like to keep me in the loop. So for these accounts, the only option is autopayment or check. Someday... ;-) Yes, this is beginning to slide OT? Pete -- Peter N. You learn something new every day. Privately, I pay all my bills via ebanking, some as standing order. Professionaly I run my own business, and we make and expect to receive all substantial payments electronically.

I'm using them here in Canada. Some things we pay for are not set up to handle electronic debit\crediting.

I'm also in Canada and I rarely use cheques. I think the last time was at least 2 or 3 years ago. I on occasion use e-cheques, which can be sent via e-mail from many banks.
