[SuSE Linux] AMD processors
Some of you probably have an AMD K6-2 processor. I'd like to know what you think of this type of processor, e.g. how it performs in the real world and how it compares to Intel processors. Would you recommend an AMD and why? -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

1 thing about AMD processors is that they can often be found with cheaper-end mother boards. Running under the limit-testing-pressures of Linux not-so-solid boards can get a bit flakey at high processing/bus speeds, and you may need to underclock your chip/bus speed a bit to avoid memory errors. check out <A HREF="http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11</A">http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11</A> i would recommend a solid motherboard before deciding on intel or AMD :-D -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

I have a amd k6-2 266 Mhz. It runs and installed fine under linux. I recommend it because it is as good as an intel, far cheaper, and runs cooler.
