Yes, me too! Since Gordon brought it up, I too am wondering where are all the SuSE 9.1 orders out there. Could a SuSE lurker enlighten us as to the delay in getting the 9.1 packages out? I know many are waiting for it still and many others would like to order it. SuSE guys! Any help, info you can provide? I received mine on Saturday, 3 weeks after it was shipped. However, 1 of those weeks was after it cleared customs.

Did you order from the SuSE store in California? I did that for 8.2, and it arrived rather promptly, not by UPS though, which has a terminal here in town, but Fed Ex. I didn't think it prudent to trust anything of value to Canada Post. :) Mike

I ordered it from the SuSE web site, and it came from Germany.
I usually order out of state for the tax benefit. I would use fed ex when I worked for an OEM because UPS would get lost in canada. CWSIV On Tue, 2004-06-08 at 18:42, Mike McMullin <SNIP>

I'm in Ottawa, Canada, and I ordered from Camelot in Montreal, more than a month ago. I finally got antsy and inquired. They said they have no stock yet, and no word from their distributor when to expect any. I told them to keep the order open, since I won't get a better deal by importing and paying those costs. Some have speculated that a problem (with the 9.1 build) was being quietly fixed and the CD/DVD set to be re-released... sometime. Obviously, many people received their boxed sets in several countries. I wonder if it's a smooth, continuous supply, or if it was all stock that was shipped in the first week or two after GA release. Can anybody in US confirm that (say) Circuit City had early stock, then stock depleted by the rush of sales <g>, and then shelves obviously restocked? kevin (still running 9.0)

kevin (still running 9.0) I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but I drive truck for a living. I stopped at CompUSA in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 8th [The date of release] and they had it on order and was supposed to be there but it wasn't. I returned there on the 10th and it still wasn't in. I finally picked it up at a Minneapolis store 1 week later.
Saskman PS Canadian Customs didn't even charge me!
I'm in Dallas, TX. I ordered the 9.1 update from SuSE's web site May 12th. Today June 8th I gave them a call and was told that they are back ordered and has to ship from Germany. I asked if this means another month and was told no, but I was expecting that answer :) So I am waiting..... The local Microcenter has copies for 64-bit 9.1 Pro, and 32-bit 9.1 Standard. HTH .... I ordered 9.1 pro from the asknet website on March 10th. I started bugging asknet around the 3rd week in May long after most people had received their 9.1. After getting a couple of conflicting emails (it's back ordered, no, it was shipped on May 3rd) I finally sent them an email telling them to cancel my order and I ordered from Amazon. I received the Amazon copy within 6 days. Asknet finally told me that my copy had been returned to them (why?) but I don't believe that. They said <yawn> I might received a refund within a couple of weeks. I haven't seen the refund yet. And for all of this, they charged my credit card waaay back in March and as far as I know, they still have my money. Sorry Suse, but I will never order from SuSE direct again. Bruce, Are you aware that Asknet is in Europe and is the online store for www.suse.de and other SUSE European web sites? Digital River is the online store for www.suse.com which is SUSE's North American web site. The Asknet site has the order page up first for every new release and Digital River is sometimes 1 - 2 weeks behind but up well before release date. From here (this side of the Atlantic) I recommend being patient until the SUSE.com / Digital River site is up before ordering. Stan

Yes, I was aware of that at the time but assumed that if they were also going to distribute in the states, that the order would be turned over to the place in the states that would handle it. Any smart company would provide for this.

I assume the opposite when it comes to me and my cash. I agree that it would be better if an e-commerce transaction was handled properly between countries and continents as you suggest. Doesn't Amazon maintain different web sites in various countries due to this lack of a global way to handle e-commerce (various duties, exchange rates, import/export laws, etc)? You ordered from Amazon.com, the USA site, not Amazon.de or whatever, right? I was just making sure you knew that in the future if you still want to give SUSE the money it would be best to stick to our "local" SUSE store versus Amazon/CompUSA/etc. Stan
I ordered from Digital River via SuSE site on May 13 & got the same song & dance on May 18 about back order:
Thank you for your recent purchase from the SuSE Online-Store. SuSE appreciates your patronage and patience during this time. The product(s) you have ordered is(are) still in process and will ship shortly. You will receive another e-mail notification when your order has actually shipped. Your credit card has been pre-authorized, but you will NOT be charged until the product ships.
