[SLE] Problem installing SCSI card & tape drive.
Adaptec 2930 & HP SureStore, trying to get to work with BRU. System does not seem to see the SCSI drive at all & tape will not mount. Any suggestions or resources welcomed. $ modprobe aic7xxx except if you want to boot from a scsi hd you will need to recompile the kernel with scsi supported on kernel. N ps. I think tape drivers are access trough /dev/st* - not sure Nico Morrison wrote:

other choice would be the use of the initial ramdisk; this should contain the module in this case. See the SuSE manual about "particularities of SuSE Linux)

ps. I think tape drivers are access trough /dev/st* - not sure
/dev/st0 is the rewinding tape unit. After loading the SCSI module, you can misuse cdrecord (cdrecord -scanbus) to check wether the streamer has been found. Juergen
