More than likely the drive needs to be replaced. I had similar problems with a maxtor 13.6G. Is your drive a UDMA 66 and does your mother board support UDMA 66? This is the 6th time I try to install, previously I get a hanging state while creating filesystem on /dev/hda2.

Can someone help me.
