I don't have beta4 here, but I guess there's no problem with it - I kept my encrypted partition from SUSE 9.0 up to 9.3 and it worked without problems. If my harddisk hadn't had bad blocks, I would also continue to use it with 10.0 - when replacing the harddisk, I "upgraded" to 9.3's default encryption. BTW: Does your passphrase for /home contain characters that are different between english and your locale keyboard layout? If so, please test if you can enter the passphrase correctly if you already select your language _at the boot menu_.
