[opensuse] Nvidia driver 440.44 won't compile with stable kernel 5.5.0-1

Many thanks, Masaru, for the location of the "fix". Will apply it shortly. BC -- All things are possible, except skiing through a revolving door. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

FYI, Stefan Dirsch accepted my SRs with this patch applied to nvidia-gfxG04 (adjusted) and nvidia-gfxG05: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/X11:Drivers:Video/nvidia-gfxG04 https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/X11:Drivers:Video/nvidia-gfxG05 IOW, the next "official" G04 and G05 builds from https://download.nvidia.com/ opensuse/ should work properly with kernel 5.5.0. G03 is building fine as well (without any patch, btw, most probably because it doesn't support DRM at all...). Thank you for your response. Just for everyone's information there is anew Nvidia driver available 440.59 (have downloaded it but yet to install it with the 5.5.x kernel). Ah, that is much better :-). I tried the patch-thing but it all went a-over-t so I gave up in frustration. Thank muchly for the above URL. What you provided above is more then useful for me. I have now replaced the illegible instructions in my 'Little Black Book' with yours. Thanks again for your help. [I note this morning that a new version of the 5.5 kernel is available. I'll install it shortly -- and see what happens :-).
