It will be a little while since it needs a fair amount of shaking out. There are new features and the refinements are still being done and polished. This is not an overnight process and I expect that it won't be determined as far as a final release date is concerned. There is a schedule but it is a loose format -- as the kernel team say -- it's ready when it's ready.
Patiences. You'll have time to decide if an upgrade is warrented for you by then.
I just downloaded OpenOffice 1.1 Release Candidate 3 from www.openoffice.org and it is MUCH improved. I hope 9.0 is delayed long enough to get 1.1 FCS and a stable KDE 3.1.3. Either that or I may buy StarOffice as its compatability with office is amazing. I always buy the next release to make a statement about SuSE and Linux. As far as I am concerned SuSE's value added is incredible and as a very experienced old Unix hat, YAST2 presents the first GUI I use to administrate a system. I strongly support SuSE making money and surviving. I know that people's opinion on 8.2 are mixed but to me it is the best SuSE yet. I am not overly concerned about 9.0 stability as to me it is really 8.3 with marketing. ;-p Regards, Bob Pearson
