I guess it's clear enough what one is supposed to do, but this is _not_ English. [...] professional translation should be done by native speakers of the language being translated into. I complained about this over a year ago and was assured that the problem was being taken care of. Apparently not, since German locutions and word orders and even literal German words are liberally sprinkled throughout the manual.
I gently complained to SuSE about French translations in the French YaST, some while ago. It was not much comfortable, and looked more like produced by some automated translation system than by humans. Some continue/abort questions were so ambiguously stated that I could not even figure out which reply best suited my intent, and I ruined one installation because of that. Since then, I always use the English installation (short of reading German). One sad thing about internationalised software (I'm well placed to know :-) is that you may not fail it. When you do, users who got burned are lost forever, or almost: they never return to the localised version. Even if a strong proponent of internationalisation, I'm also a mere user... -- François Pinard http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~pinard -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
