Hello list, I was wondering if anyone here got DSL with earthlink and how linux freindly was the setup? I finally got DSL in my area and want to get it because I want to get away from dialup. Any pointers/hints would be great! Thanks! -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, we just do not have all the answers to make the impossible, possible."

I have been using Earthlink DSL with SuSE for a year and a half. The Earthlink DSL is highly reliable. I have had maybe 3 outages, the longest of which was 4 hours. Setup with a router is trivial. Just tell SuSE the ip of your router for "default gateway." ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. <snipped information> Thanks everyone! I will use this knowledge to go ahead and get myself set up with DSL. I just need to fiddle with it so I can have basically what I have now. A dial on demand internet gateway. But I'm sure that I can get it. I will do some googleing and see if anyone has done it. Again thanks! -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, we just do not have all the answers to make the impossible, possible."

Get an extenal modem/router with RJ45 connector(s) and you will be 100% compatible with any machine that has a network card regardless of the operating system.
