Hi. I use SuSE 8.1. Its default running the Cups. Is it easy to switch over to LPRng ??. I ask this because I cannot fix a problem with my DeskJet895Cxi ON USB. The printer is connected to my suse 8.1, and is working fine there. The problem is if I want to print via samba from my win98se laptop. It will not print. My LJ1100A laserjet printer also on the suse 8.1 is printing ok from the win98 laptop. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards. Yes, just start yast2 as root (use "sux -") and select Hardware / Printer, then under "Already installed printers and queues" select "Change", then "Advanced". You can select here which spooling system to use; YaST will prompt you to insert your install CDs as needed. Works great. As far as I'm concerned, CUPS is not ready for prime time. -- ================================================== Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) -------------------------------------------------- "You may think this is the finest pearl But it's only cardboard balls, seamed in glue Overwhelming technique; done through diligence" -------------------------------------------------- -Captain Beefheart, "Best Batch Yet" ==================================================

Hi Glenn. Thanks very much for your kind reply. I have now installed the LPRng according to your excellent information. I can fine print on my USB printer, but not on my Laserjet.
