YOU behind a firewall
Can I use YOU behind a firewall? If so, where do I specify the proxy? -- 2:08pm up 11 days, 6:22, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.01, 0.00
I *think* it uses the environment variable $http_proxy - specifically, I think it uses root's $http_proxy Set it in /etc/sysconfig/proxy: HTTP_PROXY="http://proxy.mydomain.com:8080/" Run SuSEconfig -nonewpackage Then log in as root (or run YOU from it's launcher) That should do the trick

It didn't work for me. I verified the settings by changing Konqueror to use the environment variables and visited a few sites. When I try to run YOU it will tell me that it is downloading a list of packages, connected and then disconnected with no packages. Has anyone gotten YOU to work behind a firewall? Damon Register

Me neither. I convinced the site list update bit to work, by supplying it with the proxy direct, but YOU just ignores the proxy. I'm using fou4s ( www.gaugusch.at/fou4s/ ) and that works fine - rpm installed first time on 8.0 and ran from the box - using the proxy setting YOU ignores. apt4rpm has also been suggested, but I gave up trying to install it - it was not so simple as fou4s. -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services
