Hello, Just got a new Iomega ZIP 250 parallel and removed my old 100 IDE. Commented out the fstab entry for the ide and added an entry as follows /dev/sda1 /zip msdos rw,user,noauto,exec,umask=000 Installed new kernel (2.2.7) with suport for parallel zip. tried mounting and received following error message- the kernel does not recognize /dev/sda1 as a block device(maybe 'insmod driver'?) modprobe ppa /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.o: init_module: Device or resource busy /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.0: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.0 failed /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.o: insmod ppa failed any help would be appreciated. TIA PS I have only IDE and no other scsi devices on this system. -- Linux User # 95851 SuSE 6.1 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Howdy, Egret:
/lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.o: init_module: Device or resource busy /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.0: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.0 failed /lib/modules/2.2.7/scsi/ppa.o: insmod ppa failed
Use imm, not ppa for later models. Recompile your kernel, then try again. Hth... Alpha -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I think parallel ZIP drives are by default accessed via /dev/sda4, and not via /dev/sda1 (well, ZIP 100's anyway). I suggest you change the fstab entry to /dev/sda4 and try again.
PS I have only IDE and no other scsi devices on this system.
