Re: [SLE] help - win98 defrag destroyed ext2 partitions
Certainly an interesting day...however I feel that all may not be lost. My SuSE installation is over two hard disks. Partitions / /usr /opt are unaffected on my 2nd hard disk. The /dev/hda did contain /tmp /var /home and swap. I have a backup of /home but not /var. Is it possible to re-create /var from the SuSE cd's? How can the partition table contents help? I know the size and location of all my partitions. Cheers Rich -- The moral of the story: Backup your data, and keep a map of your partition table. If your partition table is messed up, in many cases you can rebuild it from scratch if you know all your parameters, and not lose data. Also, several Windows viruses can destroy partition tables. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
