Fixed: Re: [opensuse] Wireless disappeared?

Huh! Well, there's a thing. The modprobe ipw3945 worked a treat. All I have to do now, is try to make sure it stays there on reboot, but frankly, if I have to type that every time I start up, at least I'll be able to use it on my upcoming trip (starting tomorrow).
I'll play with getting it permanent for a while, and ask again if I fail.
Many thanks for your help, it's _much_ appreciated :)
There is few ways that doesn't require HAL repair. One is file /etc/sysconfig/kernel that has shell variable MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT="" that is usually empty like above, change it to MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT="ipw3945" Another is script /etc/init.d/boot.local put in the script command modprobe ipw3945 And, as mentioned, when module is loaded than run YaST Network or command: yast lan If you succeed drop a message. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, since you'd told me the driver, what I actually did was go back into Yast, go to network hardware, and did "add" then told it to add a wlan interface using the module you specified. Now it's all happy and survives reboots and everything. It would be fascinating to know how it "forgot" about this in the first place, but I'm a happy bunny, so I doubt I'll find time to investigate (and I've quite possibly trampled on the forensics anyway by now). Again, many thanks for all help, Cheers, Simon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sure. It could be many reasons, and as I don't see many complaints we can leave it alone. Thank you for the feedback and have a fun :-) -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
