Hello, this morning I can not login into KDE anymore.
I get this from .xsession-errors
pep@petit:~ > cat .xsession-errors
rm: no se puede cambiar al directorio `/tmp/ksocket-pep': Permiso denegado
Qt: Locales not supported on X server
Aborting. bind() failed: : Permission denied
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Trying to launch kdeinit.
Aborting. bind() failed: : Permission denied
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Can't setup DCOP communication.

Also I noticed that permisions for some files have changed. I do not have permissions to access /tmp/ksocket-pep.

As root remove these files: /tmp/kde* /tmp/mcop* /tmp/ksocket* /home/<user>/.kde2/socket* /home/<user>/.kde2/tmp* /home/<user>/.DCOP* .MCOP* .mcop* KDE2 will recreate them when you log back into it. Make sure that you have shutdown and restarted KDM if you are using it. After these files are recreated then you shouldn't have any issues. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin
/tmp/kde* /tmp/mcop* /tmp/ksocket* /home/<user>/.kde2/socket* /home/<user>/.kde2/tmp* /home/<user>/.DCOP* .MCOP* .mcop*
It worked. Thanks. I felt panic for a few minutes. I saw problem was comming from a bad umask that was forcing KDE to write some files with permisions which are not accessible to my user :-) By the way, where do I find an explanation of what are in those files in /tmp just to know a bit more the internals of KDE...? Thanks!
