scroll mouse that's not MS Intellimouse
My mouse is an HP scroll mouse with the wheel acting as a 3rd button. Suse setup the mouse as psaux and it works well as a 3 button mouse. The only problem is the wheel doesn't work as a scroller - only a 3rd button. the rc.config defines it as MOUSE="/dev/psaux" and /dev/mouse is a link to /dev/psaux How can I set this up as a scroll mouse? thx list guys! jennifer moter

How can I set this up as a scroll mouse?
I don't know how to do it in the console, but in X it is rather simple. I added the following to the InputDevice section for my mouse in /etc/X11/XF86Config: Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" I don't run imwheel, so the mouse doesn't scroll in all programs, but in KDE2 just about everything understands the wheel. It even scrolls horizontally. (Just move the pointer over the scrollbar.) The only place where I miss the scroll function is in the dialogue boxes of Bluefish (which is not a KDE program, but built on GTK). Regards Ole
You can use Sax2 to set it up, but I've run into problems right after I tell to commit the changes - often the mouse goes away and I had to do warm-boot and then wait will the start up fixes the inodes. A better way (in my opinion) is to go into "/etx/X11/XF86Config" and add the line: Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Put it at the end of the Section "InputDevice". This has worked for me everytime. And generally starts when you open an application like Konqueror after saving the XF86Config file. Good Luck and hope this helped. Curtis Rey On Friday 20 April 2001 01:31, jennifer moter wrote:

I managed to avoid that by going all the way through SaX2 including running the "Test" at the end. That way I could try various combinations and revert bad changes through the keyboard. BR, Gudmund
Hi,
What I'd like to know is why Sax2 doesn't include a setting for a plain
MouseSystems Mouse. I have to set
my 3-button plain vanilla mouse up as a (gasp) Micro-
Soft Mouse.
