Hi All,
I know you need kernel source to compile a kernel, but what other packages must be installed to compile either a 2.2.x or 2.4.x series kernel. I know that gcc is needed, along with ncurses, but is there a definative list available somewhere for SuSE 8.0?
I'm no kernel guru, but I don't think you can simply say "gcc".
From what I have read, the kernel is very sensitive to which compiler version you use.
Some versions work, some create kernel bugs. If I know what I'm talking about, kgcc is used specifically for compiling kernels. Greg Freemyer Internet Engineer Deployment and Integration Specialist Compaq ASE - Tru64 Compaq Master ASE - SAN Architect The Norcross Group www.NorcrossGroup.com
