Hello all, I cannot hear the CDs playing music. This is my detected sound card using YaST2: CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device. The on board sound card doesn't work either. I can hear the system beep through the on board sound. Is there any other setup that needs to be done other than what it has done? TIA, Robert Pollard

Perhaps the volume is not turned up? Try checking the settings with kmix. The leftmost two sliders, and the slider with the little CD icon, must be turned up a bit before you can hear anything from the CD. Also, if the sound card is new, did you remember to connect the CD-drive to the sound card? Best regards Johnny :o)
Try the YaST sound card setup playing with other control (like handphone, etc). My office box using Intel Mother board with built-in sound can only control the master sound level through headphone level and the master level control is of no effect :( Well, better than totally no sound. Good luck Dennis Robert Pollard wrote:
