[opensuse] Full harddisk slowdown and partitions
When a harddisk gets full access becomes slower. If i have 2 partitions, and one gets full, can it have the same effect ? Does it depend on where the full partition is ? That full partition will probably have slower writes. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Writing gets slower, but access (reading) remains at the same speed other than the minuscule reduction caused by a file being split into many parts as no single free spot was big enough when it was written. Location on the disk of a partition and/or a specific file does not significantly effect speed of access in the real world. If you are reading/writing on the full partition, having another empty one will not help you. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
