[opensuse] Trying to create a new virtual 15.1 machine under virtualbox hangs
Hi, Trying to create a new virtual 15.1 machine under vmware hangs when it gets to the phase "System Role". I selected "Generic Desktop" and it hangs with 100% CPU load (seen on the host) on its single core. Remote repos were enabled. The machine has 1GB ram assigned (the default), I'll try 2 GB. [...] Yes, it works. So Leap 15.1 doesn't install with the default 1 GB RAM. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Ah. I was using the full DVD, but with repositories enabled, which is the default, IIRC. Dated 2018-02? :-o -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.0 (Legolas))

Woops, I just used the net-install .iso and had no problems. For release checkout, I usually allocate 2-cores, 2Gig of RAM, 16G of dynamic virtual hard-disk space. Had zero problems with the install. Only issue I have with the 15.1 incarnation is the kernel module version mismatch between the 6.0.x released with 15.1 and the 5.2.x that my server runs -- and which is supported by Oracle through 2020 due to problems with the 6.0.x version and --headless guests over the network) Not a problem to build the 5.2 modules, just pain to do --headless when the OS boots to the graphical target. -- David C. With 2 gigs ram there is no problem. I assigned 2 gigs, and within minutes my machine was unresponsive swapping like hell. I was lucky to get to a terminal and kill firefox to make room. After installation was done, I reduced ram again to 1 gig. If it needs more, it will swap instead. Internally.

Dunno about that. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)
