[opensuse] Uninstall programs
OK, i installed 10.3 (reinstalled) with kde instead of gnome. In gnome, i could not install apps that i did not want, like evolution, pan and mc and so on......But with kde, i am finding it is much harder to not install certain apps, like amarok, kde-kopete and konversation. During the install, i unchecked "autocheck" in the software section and unchecked these apps. Now that 10.3 with kde is installed, these flippin apps are installed!!!! I have used yast->software management to uninstall amarok but get slew of dependency conflicts: #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2007-12-28 15:12:21 #### amarok-xine has missing dependencies There are no alternative providers of amarok == 1.4.7 installed for amarok-xine-1.4.7-37.4.i586 === amarok-xine-1.4.7-37.4.i586 === amarok-1.4.7-37.2.i586[openSUSE-10.3-Updates] provides amarok == 1.4.7-37.2, but it is uninstallable. Why? Because you left this line from the previous email:

I had to do extra work to read your email. You said: ] I meant uninstall and not install...I want to uninstall apps in kde ] without getting the dependency conflicts There is no way of not get dependecy conflicts except by solving those conflicts, one by one. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. And you reinstalled? Did you know that you can have both gnome and kde and more?
But with kde, i am finding it is much harder to not install certain apps, like amarok, kde-kopete and konversation. During the install, i unchecked "autocheck"
That doesn't do what you want. It will always check in the end.

which you have to solve one by one by either unistalling those things requiring amarok, or ignoring them (which probably only postpones the problem).
