
Oops, you need to have the i8k module loaded for this to work. I remembered that I compiled a custom kernel on my notebook. You should check to see if there is an i8k module loaded in /etc/modules.config or if it even exists in /lib/modules/2.4.20-xxxxx tree somewhere. If i8k doesn't exist you will have to compile a kernel or just give up on this project. Sorry for leaving out the first step.
