[opensuse] Don't know which IDE driver to use for MSI N1996 motherboard
I'm trying to move my drives from an old motherboard to an MSI 1996 motherboard. When I boot though, I get "Waiting for device /dev/hda2 to appear" which means that the IDE driver for this motherboard isn't in my initial RAM disk. Does anybody know which driver I need to add to the RAM disk? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Afaik every x86 mainboard on the market uses the same interface to ATA drives. On some very new boards, where the 'southbridge' is not supported yet, DMA is disabled, but you should always be able to access the drive with PIO at least. Check if you haven't got the drive in a RAID configuration in the BIOS or something. Theo -- Theo v.
