So far I have created a userlist as assisted and and included it in aliases > > script and all subscribers list has been created.
My problem now is that when I send mail to the mailing list subscribers@my.domain.name it is not working. Any suggestions.
Below are the steps I have followed
step1 executed getusers.pl
Uing the perl script I created a userlist and sample result is below.
bwalyal jay
step2 included line in aliases. below is part of file
************ these indicate subscribers name for all users and point to my userlist
nobody: root # "bin" used to be in /etc/passwd bin: root # "abuse" is often used to fight against spam email abuse: postmaster subscribers: /root/userlist ******* # Further well-known aliases for dns/news/ftp/mail/fax/web/gnats.
Step 3 I rebuilt my aliases but to no avail.
The subscribers alias in the /etc/aliases file is wrong - it should be: subscribers: :include:/root/userlist not: subscribers: /root/userlist That should fix it (don't forget to rebuild aliases), Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\

I am running SuSE 6.1 and I want to set DNS how can I do this?
Are you wanting to set up caching DNS or full DNS (full DNS being where you have your own domain and IP address range...)? The DNS-HOWTO actually explains all of this extremely well, and that's where I learnt how to do it for the first time. For caching DNS, the rpm basically configures itself. The only things I changed for caching DNS were the 'forwarders {...' lines. Setting up full DNS is slightly more complicated, but a basic configuration can be quite easy, putting a few lines in /etc/named.conf and creating a couple of zone files in /var/named with the DNS information. I think your best bet would be to read the DNS howto through, which explains things very clearly (don't miss any bits out...). If you need any more help, give us a shout, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
