Fully automatic backup system with automounting CDRW disc ?
Hi, I'm looking for solution to make automatic backups of part of filesystem, that will trigger automatically, when CD-R is inserted (possibly with multisession support). Another script that will upon inserting CD, restore that part of filesystem with newest backup file on disk. Info whether to backup/restore will be somehow stored in txt file or environment variable.... System will be running without X and any GUI... Any pointers, help, advice ? Thanks in advance, regards, Rob.

One ingredient you might be able to take advantage of is the option to execute an "autorun.sh" file when a drive is auto-mounted. I see this option in the SuSEPlugger / SuSE Hardware Tool GUI. Whether this is connected to functionality independent of KDE, I don't know. But if it is, you could use it to trigger the backup process specifically for discs you've prepared specifically for this purpose.
