[opensuse] freshclam on laptops
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I just realized that freshclam in this laptop eats battery. It goes full cpu load for minutes. I must think on how to disable the process on battery power. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. Do you have clamav freshclam.service enabled? If so just disable it and run freshclam manually when you plug your laptop in? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Yes, there is probably some systemd way of stopping it when you go onto battery and resuming it when you're back on mains. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.2°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That's an idea. But I have to remember to do it. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Found this: <https://askubuntu.com/questions/654335/systemd-how-to-start-stop-services-on-battery> One answer: I'm not an expert on systemd, but I google better than the average bear. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Power_management: There is just one thing systemd cannot do (as of systemd-204): power management depending on whether the system is running on AC or battery. To fill this gap, you can create a single udev rule that runs a script when the AC adapter is plugged and unplugged: -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)
