[SuSE Linux] Soundblaster Live! and SuSE 6.0 (2.0.36 kernel)
Hi, I'm completly new to Linux, though I've been working with Irix and HP-UX for some years. I've run into a problem with regards to getting the Soundblaster Live! to work (both under Linux and Windows98; I can't get Windows NT to install;). I've followed the instructions in the SuSE manual, ie. running pnpdetect (or somesuch, I'm at work, don't have the manual). Anyways the utility which the manual says I should run doesn't detect my soundcard or anything. It complains about some PCI module not found/installed so that it can't check for PCI conflicts. The SB Live! is a PCI card so I thought the problem lies therein. The SuSE manual doesn't say anything, and I don't find any good info about what I should have installed. My networkcard, also PCI, was detected by YaST, so I find it strange that the SB Live! card can't be found. Should I just go into windows, take a note of everything I can about it's setup and use that in some conf file (isapnp.conf or something, again I don't recal the exact name)? -- Paul Kenneth Egell-Johnsen Sales Support and System Development Metaphor Systems as - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
