ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/6.3/ is empty but the URL
http://www.suse.de/en/support/download/ftp/index.html says
"Here you can find the newest SuSE Linux version as well as older
versions. You can install SuSE Linux directly from the FTP server -
here you can find a HowTo."
But it if use the link, it dumps you into the "current" sub-directory
that has 6.2, which is not "current" if you consider 6.3 to be so.
We United States users would really appreciate clarification, as would others.
Best Regards

Lest we forget, SuSE is in the business of making money. Would you, as a business person, give away your product first, then sell it? Secondly, have you ever tried to access Red Hat's FTP servers, or their mirrors, after they release a new version? It's nigh impossible. -- George Toft http://www.georgetoft.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Obsolutely! This is exactly what RedHat has done all along. Have you seen the price of their stock lately? Corel had an .iso image freely available for download several weeks before they released the boxed version. It actually got them a good deal of press and pre-orders. BTW, the price of their stock doubled.

I've never had a problem. Even if I did I could always ask someone at my LUG to burn me a copy of the Free disks if I was unable to purchase them on my own. No, it's smart business. I saw the 6.3 Beta, and it blew. I have faith, however, that SuSE Linux 6.3 Retail (and subsequently FTP and Eval) will be a very high-quality product(s) because of their relatively long development cycles. -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
