[SLE] Installing suse 8.1 using floppies
Hello All, I hope someone can help me with this one. I have 2 computers hooked up together. One has a cdrom drive, the other doesnt. I am trying to do a fresh install suse on the cdrom-less pc but still no luck (moving the cdrom drive is not an option because im planning to replicate this on 5 more machines. Also, we dont have bootable ethernet card so I can;t do a network boot). I made installation floppies, with instructions from the suse website. So i load the floppies 1&2, and they load okay. I chose the installation -safe settings. When in comes to the actual installation, where I try to to install via nfs ... (the cdrom is mounted in the 1st pc.) I think I need to include some more stuff on the installtion floppies. I am just not sure what. Thanks, tintin

Ok, so far... what's the exact problem? Maybe I'm too sleepy :-)

I haven't tried with 8.1, but I think you just need to load the ethernet module (it can be autodetected, it should request the second floppy if necesary), configure the network, and then point yast to use the nfs server. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
