Will the ulb-gnome packages for 9.0 in the apt repositories work in 9.1. I greatly prefer Gnome to KDE. There has been a lot of discussion, so I began to consider this possibility. James, do you think it will work? Ed Harrison SuSE 9.1, Kernel 2.6.5-17.14-default PolarBar Mailer 1.25a

I doubt it, quite apart from the change from GNOME 2.2 to 2.4, there's been significant changes in the way SuSE handles GNOME config (in 9.0 and earlier it was done using SuSEconfig - no long in 9.1) I'm really sorry that it's taking me so long to get packages up for 9.1, real life is imposing itself rather heavily at the moment... -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

Is it time for this to be an FAQ yet? ;) ULB GNOME is a drop-in replacement for SuSE's GNOME package, offering extended and alternative default configurations, and some patches not included by SuSE (such as the drop-shadow patch to GTK+) So, it'll be 2.4 But, as and when 2.6 packages appear on ftp.suse.com, I may do ULB packages of them as well -- James Ogley, UNIX Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 www.pinnacle.co.uk Personal: james@rubberturnip.org.uk www.rubberturnip.org.uk Updated GNOME packages for SUSE LINUX: www.usr-local-bin.org
