Re: [SLE] HP DL 380 system with SuSE Pro 9.3 freezes up
Hi Garret, Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that and let you know how it goes. Prakash

I recently found a similar issue when running Open Enterprise Server (essentially SLES 9.3) on a DL380 G4. The system would run fine after boot and perform great throughout the day. I would return the following day and find that SSH would be sluggish to respond (if it would at all) and that web services would error out or be extremely slow. The problem I had ended up being the powersavd daemon. You may try disabling it by going to /etc/init.d/ and running './powersavd stop' and then 'chkconfig powersavd off' to remove it from startup. I just stumbled upon this by disabling the services that I knew were not necessary for the system to run and started with power management since it has proven to be a pest on several windows systems I've experienced in the past. I just happend to be lucky that day and found the problem process before I was too deep in. So that might be an aproach you may want to try. For what it's worth. I hope it helps, -Garret

Hi All,
This issue relapsed again last evening (19th March). I have nothing in the logs, and again, the system was crazily working on the 2 primary disks in the system (Raid 1 mirrored). Anyone has any idea how I can debug this? Even a reference to some tool or how to get into the system during a freeze or something in that line would be greatly helpful. TIA, Prakash
