[SLE] ALSA, all talk and no sound.
I've downloaded the latest ALSA, built it, configured the conf.modules and turned the sound settings in the mixer up. I've also loaded the OSS compatibility modules . All looks well (modules showup in lsmod and so on), but no sound and although the alsa mixers (eg amixer) can see the modules, the ones in Xwindows cannot. Help. I have a PCI 64 (using the ens1370 module) Col -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Not to be negative, but why are you using ALSA instead of the included modules? ALSA is a little immature (perhaps it will be ready for k2.6 or k3.0), and not terribly reliable. Have you talked about this over on alsa-user? If amixer shows the mixer, then any other mixer should (theoretically) see it as well. Have you tried kmix or ossmixer for KDE? -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
